World Talents and the Polytechnic Institute of Guarda (IPG) Sign Partnership to Attract International Investment and Boost Research OpportunitiesWorld Talents, a platform that connects global entrepreneurs and businesses with local universities and startup ecosystems, has announced a partnership with the
Polytechnic Institute of Guarda (IPG). The goal is to attract international investment and expand opportunities for research and innovation through the
Global Talent Portugalprogram.
Global Talent Portugal acts as a bridge between entrepreneurs, investors, and the startup and university ecosystems in Portugal. The program provides universities with access to new funding opportunities and resources to strengthen research and development projects, while also expanding their international networks. In turn, entrepreneurs and businesses establish their operations in the country, contributing directly to local ecosystems through investment, R&D projects, and knowledge transfer. Through the Global Talent Portugal program, World Talents has attracted around
80 entrepreneurs and companies to the country, with a total investment of approximately
€2.8 million.
"World Talents believes that the growth and innovation of Portugal’s startup ecosystem also depends on attracting international entrepreneurs. Through our mentorship program and support in developing proprietary technologies, these entrepreneurs can contribute significantly to the growth of IPG at a time when the institution’s mission is to advance its doctoral and distinctive undergraduate programs," said
Bernardo Saraiva, Co-founder and Managing Director of World Talents.
"IPGuarda has been creating and promoting new investment opportunities that allow our faculty and researchers to grow in the fields of entrepreneurship, technological innovation, and the dissemination of our knowledge through external actors who add value. The partnership with World Talents represents and reinforces this commitment, and we believe it can make a difference in our action plan," said
Joaquim Brigas, President of the Polytechnic Institute of Guarda (IPG).
The Polytechnic Institute of Guarda positions itself as a regional development hub, combining innovation with the region’s culture, experience, and resources. In the fields of Innovation and Entrepreneurship, the Polytechnic operates
eleven Research Laboratories, including Robotics, Information Systems, Chemistry and Materials, Prototyping, among others. It also runs
Polytechnic To Business (P2B), a diverse range of programs and initiatives that foster a close and cohesive relationship between the institution and the business sector. P2B includes
Poliempreende, a business idea competition, and
Policasulos, an incubator for entrepreneurial projects.
This partnership with the Polytechnic Institute of Guarda follows World Talents’ recent expansion into northern Portugal, with the goal of directly strengthening the university's and the region’s innovation network.
